Betty Jean Harrelson Reagan, 88 years old of Ruffin, North Carolina passed from this world on November 15, 2025, to join her beloved husband, William Irvin in Heaven. She was born on March 29th, 1937 in Caswell County, North Carolina where she lived her entire life. She graduated from Cobb Memorial School where she attended from the first grade through graduation and started a beauty salon business from her home in the early 1960's. Betty was very committed to her church, family, and her work. She was a very active member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church for most of her life and she had committed customers for life.
She found joy in delicious southern cooking and desserts. She was an excellent seamstress, she refinished and reupholstered furniture. She designed the remodeling of their home which she oversaw multiple revisions through the years. She had flowers and plants all around the property fit for "Southern Living" magazine. Holidays were always a special time at the Reagan home. She would prepare homemade cupcakes for Halloween. Thanksgiving and Christmas were feasts with fresh vegetables from the summer, and all types of desserts and the home filled with family. She also hosted Fourth of July Bar-be-ques at their home, as well as hosting a Family Reunion each June since she married in 1955. The home became a neighborhood gathering place for her sons friends. Football, basketball, and some form of baseball was played for years and she would provide snacks and the home would be available to either warm up or cool down. She made it a great place to grow up.
She was married to her high school sweetheart, William Irvin, for over 67 years. They raised two sons, Randy and Ray. She is survived by. a sister, LaRue Giles from Danville, VA, Randy and his wife Janet, Ray and his wife Cathy, grandchildren Michael, Michelle, Brooke, Paige, and Will, as well as 6 great-grandchildren. Her parents preceded her in death, Malcolm Harrelson and Mary Lou Shelton Harrelson.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 19th, 2025 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ruffin, North Carolina. The family will see friends and relatives immediately following the service at the residence at 1870 Ashland Road Ruffin, NC. The funeral arrangements are entrusted to Citty Funeral Home in Reidsville, NC. Memorials may be sent to: The Alzheimer's Association 4615 Dundas D. Greensboro, NC 27407. Betty Jean Reagan will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those she has touched.
