Audrey Knowles Allen

Audrey Knowles Allen, 88, of Reidsville, NC went to be with the Lord Friday January 20, 2023 at her home. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 2:00 Monday January 23, 2023 in Evergreen Memory Gardens with Elder David Underwood officiating. The family will see friends at the residence. A native of Rockingham County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Annie Bell Williams Knowles and had lived her entire life in Rockingham County. She grew up on the Grooms Rd.  farm, working hard in the tobacco fields. She continued to work in tobacco with her brother and other local farms. She was always a constant presence in the lives of her family and friends available to fix a chocolate pie or give a huge hug, fix it with food is a family tradition. She could be found tacking quilts, busting wood, and loving on her great grandkids. She did not slow down until her health forced it. Even as her health declined, she kept the fierce, hard headed, spit fire personality she’s always had. Audrey was preceded in death by her husband: Joe F. Allen, her parents: Alfred and Annie Bell Williams Knowles, brothers: Ernest Knowles, and Brison Knowles, sisters: Brenda Paynter, Betty Dickerson, and Cora (Beana) Lewis. She leaves behind her sons: Gary Allen (Kim), and Barry Allen, grandchildren: Jay Allen (Ashley), Casey Allen (Michael), Mariah Joyce (Brandon), Amber Dearing, Kirsten Evans (Dewey), and Brittany Harrison (Kenny), great grandchildren: Axton, Nikolai, Layla, Leland, Chance, Dakota, Carter, Olivia, and many others who called her Memaw.
