Alton Vandyke “Tensey” Hodges, 77, of Ruffin, went to be with the Lord Tuesday February 10, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Graveside Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday February 17, 2026 in Locust Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Donna Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites. The family will see friends from 1:00 till 2:00 P.M. before the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the residence.
A native of Caswell County, he was a son of the late Robert Shelton and Edith McKinney Hodges and had lived most of his life in Caswell County. He was a retired supervisor with Equity Group Reidsville Division and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict achieving the rank of E5 and was awarded four bronze stars. He was a charter member of the E-Z Street Cruisers, and was a member of the Casville Volunteer Fire Department. Alton’s true passion was auto restoration and many of his car buddies remember his moto “ a shade over perfect”. He built and owned many street rods and custom cars. Alton was preceded in death by his siblings: Robert Hodges, William Hodges, Kirby Hodges, Lee Hodges, Allen Hodges, and Timothy Hodges.
Survivors include his wife: Billie Jean Jones Hodges of the home, son: Van Alton Hodges (Kim) of Caswell County, brothers: Rodger Hodges (Betty), James Hodges (Kathy), sister: Jeannie Barham of Eden, sister-in-law: Betty W. Hodges of Danville, VA and his grand dog Pepper.
