Steve Woodrow Smith, 79, of Ruffin, NC went to be with the Lord Thursday January 9, 2020 at Annie Penn Hospital Reidsville, NC. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Sunday January 12, 2020 in Mayfield Baptist Church with Rev. Duane Blevins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will see friends 2:00 till 3:00 P.M. Sunday January 12, 2020 at the church before the service. A native of Caswell County, he was a son of the late Woodrow Smith and Katie Cobb Fargis  and had lived in Rockingham County most of his life. He was a retired custodian at Happy Home and Lincoln Elementary Schools and was a member of Mayfield Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife: Ann Overby Smith and a brother: Tom Smith. Survivors include his daughter: Christine S. Forsythe (Dennis) of Ruffin, a son: Steve William Smith of Ruffin, brothers: Bobby Smith (Yvone) of Reidsville, David Smith (Colleen) of Caswell Co., Roger Smith (Rosa) of Indiana, and James Smith of Pennsylvania, grandchildren: Nikki Davis (Chris), Kayla Forsythe, Jessica Forsythe, and Casey Forsythe (Jacki), great grandchildren: Miley Bowman, Elayna Davis, Braylon Davis, and Raylen Mason.
