John Richard Stallings, 84, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Thursday November 15, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Alamance County.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Sunday November 18, 2018 at Camp Springs United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites performed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard.
A native of Guilford County, he was the son of the late John and Eliza Brannock Stallings and had lived most of his life in Rockingham County. He attended Curry School in Greensboro and was an honor graduate of the machinist course at Danville Technical Institute. He was a veteran of the US Army, where he served in the military police and was a fire arms instructor. A member of Camp Springs United Methodist Church, John worked as a tool room machinist for General Electric Co. in Lynchburg, VA for six years and retired from GTE Sylvania which later became Chase Precision Metals in Reidsville with twenty-nine years of service. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, a charter member of the Rockingham County Gun Club, a member of the Old Reidsville Rifle Club Team, and a member of Old Reidsville Skeet Club.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years Marlene Tucker Stallings of the home, his son: Wesley M. Stallings (Melissa) of Summerfield, and his daughter: Kathy S. Lester (Steve) of Reidsville, grandchildren: Eric McCarty of Reidsville, Eliza Stallings, Morgan Stallings, and Lindsay Stallings all of Summerfield.
The family will see friends 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. Saturday November 17, 2018 at Citty Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home.
