Jesse Lee”Butch” Norton, Jr.  75, of Reidsville, NC went to be with the Lord Saturday June 15, 2019 at Annie Penn Hospital.

A memorial service will be conducted 4:00 P.M. Wednesday June 19, 2019 in Citty Funeral Home Chapel with military rites.The family will see friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence.

A native of Danville, VA, he was a son of the late Jesse Lee and Annie May Jordan Norton and had lived in Rockingham County for most of his life. He was a former resident of Caswell County, NC and was of the Baptist faith. He was a former auto mechanic and had worked for Gem Dandy Auto Salvage before retiring as a landscaper with Johnston’s Nursery. He was a US Army Veteran , an avid NASCAR fan, and  a jack of all trades and a master of none. Butch was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Johnny Garrison, a great grandson: Brenton Walker, brothers: Frank Norton and Joe Norton, and sisters: Volina Smith, Alice Taylor, Jane Guinn, and Betty Kate Norton.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years  Cornelia Willard “Maggie” Norton of the home, daughter: Jessica Lee Norton of Reidsville, step-daughters: Debra Garrison of Providence, NC, and Virginia Gentry (Wayne) of Yanceyville, NC, step-sons: William “Willie” Potter, Jr. (Betty)of Winchester, VA and Robert M. Potter (Kim) of Yanceyville, brothers: Steve Norton (Carolyn) of Person County, NC, Jimmy Norton of Kentucky, sisters: Brenda Rudder of Person County, NC, and Ann Silva of Reidsville, NC, a granddaughter: Corsica Norton of Dallas, TX , eleven step-grandchildren,  eighteen step great grandchildren, his two pet dogs: Sabrina and Roxie, his pet Guinea Pig: "Boss Hog", and a number of nieces and nephews.
