James Edward Jones

James Edward “Jimmy” Jones,85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, April 25, 2018, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Grace Fellowship at South Park with Dr. John Marks officiating.  Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery with Military Rites.

A native of Rockingham Co., he was a son of the late Eddie Lee and Cora Cantrell Jones and had lived in Reidsville all of his life.  Jimmy was a retired Supervisor with American Tobacco Co. and a member of Grace Fellowship at South Park (formerly First Congregational Christian Church).  He was a 1950 graduate of Reidsville High School, served in the US Army  from 1953-1955, and graduated from Elon College in 1958.  Jimmy was a Cubmaster with Pack 744 for 10 years, coached Little League Baseball, Midget Football, Elks Basketball, and YMCA Basketball.  He was twice elected Civitan of the year, served as a Deacon at his church where he taught Sunday school, was co-leader of the College and Career Class, former President of the Men’s Fellowship, member of the Planning Committee, served as an Usher, and was a former member of the Pulpit Committee.  Jimmy was a former member of the Reidsville Men’s Garden Club and a former member of the American Legion.  He loved his Lord, his family, his friends, the Men’s Fellowship, woodworking, working in his yard, collecting autographs, nature, and sports.  Jimmy especially loved his grandchildren and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  He was preceded in death by his parents and by the love of his life, his wife:  Wilma Saunders Jones, and brothers; Eddie Lee Jones, Jr. & Leonard Forest Jones.

Surviving are his sons:  Charles Edward “Chuck” Jones (Cindy) and James Todd Jones (Jama) both of Reidsville, grandchildren;  Kasie Jones, Will Jones, and Ross Jones, and 3 nieces.

The family will see friends from 6:00 till 8:00PM Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Citty Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the residence:  1414 Brookwood Dr. Reidsville, NC 27320.  Memorials may be made to:  In His Name Christian Services  1863 S.
