Georgia Isabel Trawick Myers went to be with the Lord Wednesday May 9 when she passed away at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. She was born to Ruth and George Trawick in Linton, Georgia, July 17, 1931. As both parents before her, Isabel became a schoolteacher. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia State College for Women and a Masters of Education from the University of Florida. She married Ralph E. Myers in November 2, 1962 and lived in Cocoa Beach and Merritt Island, Florida where she taught school and Ralph was a contractor helping build the Space Center at Cape Canaveral. They moved to Kennesaw, Georgia in 1966 before establishing a farm in Reidsville in 1971. There they built their dream house and raised polled Herefords while Ralph worked for HUD in Greensboro and Isabel taught school. Many pupils in Reidsville loved her as their 4th grade teacher at Williamsburg Elementary. She retired in 1996.

Isabel was a devoted wife to Ralph for 56 years and mother to his son Ralph E. “Russ” Myers, Jr. Many others knew her as “mom” and loved her for her gentle and caring nature. She had an abiding interest in people, always putting others first. She had a deep Christian faith and for many years attended Lowes United Methodist Church. In later years she had a special relationship with Rick Wall, Lori Browning, and Amy Wiseman who cared for Isabel and Ralph and their household.

Isabel’s older siblings Dr. William G. “Bill” Trawick and Julia Ruth “Judy” Trawick Carter and her husband, Charles Carter preceded her in death. Her survivors include sister-in-law Margaret Trawick of Stone Mountain, Ga.; nephews Robert Trawick and his wife Sabra of Cary, NC, and Charles Trawick and his wife Susan of Tucker, Ga.; nieces Celia Carter Reaves and her husband Don of Rochester, NY. and Linda Carter Spooner and her husband Ken of Minneapolis, MN. She was close to her cousins Saralyn Trawick Kimsey of Snellville, Ga. and Andrew Trawick and wife Margaret Ann of Linton, Ga.

Isabel is survived by Ralph’s son, Russ and his wife Cathe of Crozet, Va. She dearly loved their four children Joshua, Christina, Jeremiah, and Jessica and Russ and Cathe’s 9 grandchildren. Isabel is also survived by Ralph’s daughter Angela “Missie” Abbott and husband Roger of Haines City, Fl., Missie’s children Lisa and Stephen, and Ralph’s son Jerry Myers Anderson and wife Jo Marie of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
