Donald Richard Mills, Sr, 85, of Reidsville went to be with the Lord Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 26, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Reidsville.

He was born in Durham, NC on November 27, 1932 and was the son of the late Hermus Coral and Azzie Scott Mills. He was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. He was a graduate of NC State University in electrical engineering, served in the ROTC, and was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He served in the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant and was employed by Duke Energy for 46 years before retiring and moving to Reidsville.

Don belonged to First Baptist Church of Reidsville and served as Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Director, and a member of the Baraca Sunday School Class.  He was a member of the Reidsville Men’s Garden Club, Pennrose Park Country Club, and the Reidsville Rotary Club.  Don loved spending time with his family, reading, and visiting his home at the beach.  He was affectionately known as “Toad” to his family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife Jane Morgan Mills of the home, son, Rick Mills also of the home, daughters, Scottie Penn (Ted) of Reidsville, and Bunnie Holston (Dennis) of Charlotte.  Grandchildren: Jane Frazier (Andrew), Virginia Penn, Mary Morgan Mills, Parker Mills, Max Holston (Bailey), and Anna Holston.  Great-Granddaughter: Mary Reid Frazier.

The family will see friends Wednesday, July 25 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Citty Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Scottie and Ted Penn, 1868 Pennrose Drive.
