Ann Trigg Phlegar Harrill, 95, of Reidsville, N.C., died Sunday April 8, 2018. Born in Norfolk, Va., on March 17, 1923, Ann was a graduate of Matthew Fontaine Maury High School in Norfolk and St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, N.C, where she earned a degree in Business. A resident of Reidsville since 1966 and married for 47 years to the late Charles Jackson Harrill, Sr., she is survived by her son Charles Jackson Harrill, Jr., and his wife, Patricia, of Richmond, Va.; and her son David Phlegar Harrill and his wife, Jane, of Reidsville. Ann had four grandchildren: C. J. Harrill, III; Andrew Harrill; Joseph Harrill and wife Jamie; and Anna Harrill. She was preceded in death by her parents, David S. and Katie T. Phlegar of Norfolk; and her siblings, Dr. David S. Phlegar, Jr.; T. Mosby Phlegar; and Ellen P. Turnbull. A lifelong Presbyterian, Ann contributed her talents as a pianist to her churches, beginning with the Sunday School classes at First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk and later at Presbyterian churches in the towns and cities where she and Jack lived and raised their family, including serving as church organist for two churches: New Dublin Presbyterian Church and its pastor Manson Tate in Dublin, Va., and Hillview Presbyterian Church and its pastor Ron Harris in Reidsville. At First Presbyterian Church in Reidsville she sang in the choir, worked with Vacation Bible School, and was a leader of the Women of the Church. She was honored in 2003 with a Life Membership Award from the Presbyterian Women of the Church. She was a Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Brookdale Reidsville, and especially Sherry Snydor, for their years of devoted dedication and attention to Ann. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, April 12 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the North Wing at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Main St., Reidsville N.C. and at other times at the home of David and Jane (1209 Huntsdale Road). A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00. Burial will be in Christiansburg, Va.
