Alvin Wilson Bowen, Jr

Alvin Wilson Bowen, Jr., 79, went to be with the Lord after a brief illness on Monday, March 26, 2018. Wilson will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Brenda Harrell Bowen, and his children, Alvin Wilson Bowen, III and wife, Candace M. Bowen; Kevin Harrell Bowen, and wife, Carol S. Bowen; Susan Bowen Talley, and husband John Talley. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Rachel Bowen, Rebecca Adkins and husband, Christopher Adkins, Jonathan Talley and wife, Sarah Talley, Will Ward, Mary-Vivian Bowen, Sara Bowen, and James Talley; Great grandchildren, Atticus Bowen, Colt Ward, Elijah Talley, Maverick Adkins, and Lucas Talley. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin W. Bowen, Sr. and Etta Mae Blakley Bowen.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 29, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 409 South Main Street, Reidsville, NC with graveside service to follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Born in Winston Salem, NC, Wilson and his parents, moved to Reidsville when he was 10 years old. Wilson graduated from Reidsville High School in 1958 as a charter member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from Wake Forest College in Winston Salem, NC in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Education. Wilson taught science and mathematics at Reidsville Junior High School for 6 years before opening Bowen Electric in Reidsville. Wilson retired from the City of Reidsville as Lead Code Enforcement Officer after 21 years of service. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Reidsville. Wilson enjoyed spending time with his great-grandsons by sharing his love of model trains.
The family will receive visitors at Citty Funeral Home, 308 Lindsey Street, Reidsville, NC on Wednesday, March 28 from 6pm to 8pm and other times at the residence.
