Obituary

Agnes Victoria Moore ”Lady” Dodson, 95, passed from this world on January 8, 2018. She was known as “Lady” to her family and friends, having been so dubbed by her father at a very early age.
Lady was born in Rockingham County on October 22, 1922 to the late Robert L. and Grace Moore and lived most of her life there. She graduated from Bethany High School and married her sweetheart, Roy Dodson, who was going off to military service in WWII. Although she worked at different jobs over the years, including Matkins Fabric Shop and Southern States, from which she eventually retired, she was dedicated to her home and family. Being an accomplished seamstress, she sewed most of her children’s clothes, helped her husband in the garden, and cooked excellent meals. She was especially drawn to the sick and the wounded, be they children or animals, and offered comfort and support over the years.
Lady was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Dodson; her daughter, Linda Dodson; parents, Robert L. And Grace Wells Moore; brothers, Dennis Moore and Dwight Moore.
She is survived by sisters, Nola Halbrook (Howard) of Reidsville, NC and Nellie Hayes of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, David Moore (Evelyn) of Madison; daughters, Dianne Talley of Winston Salem, NC and Joyce Crutchfield of Reidsville; grandchildren, James Minter, Amy Talley (Homan Atashbar), Lori Summer Shreve, Shana Roberson (Scott), Dustin Crutchfield, Matthew Crutchfield (Hillary) and great-grandchildren, Sierra Shreve, Aidan Moore, Brandon Atashbar, Charly Atashbar, Avery Crutchfield and Jack Crutchfield.The family will receive friends following the private family service on Sunday, January 14th from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the Boyd Room of the First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville at 318 South Main Street. The family would like to extend sincere and special thanks to Leslie Chilton and family and the staff of Chilton’s Family Care Home for the attentive and loving care they provided during Lady’s years of residence there.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance Caswell or First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville.
