Wilma Saunders Jones



Wilma Saunders Jones, 81, of 1414 Brookwood Dr. died Saturday, July 29, 2017, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00PM Monday, July 31, 2017, at Grace Fellowship and burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.
A native of Caswell Co., she was a daughter of the late Lee Roy and Bertie Cobb Saunders and had lived in Reidsville most of her life. Wilma was a retired elementary school teacher, a member of Grace Fellowship (formerly First Congregational Christian Church, where she sang in the Choir, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Circle #1. She and her husband led the College and Career Group at the church. Wilma was a member of the Flora Garden Club, ADK Sorority, a former member of the Reidsville Women’s Club, a 1953 graduate of Reidsville High School, and a 1957 graduate of Greensboro College. She taught 3rd grade at South End Elementary School for 28 years and taught Adult Education at RCC for 10 years. Wilma enjoyed her fellow teachers and principals and loved her students, both young and old. She also loved her teacher assistants; Sarah Bullock, Virginia Stadler, and Wanda Hopper. She enjoyed teaching, traveling, talking with friends, ACC basketball, singing in the choir, and attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister; Dorothy Henderson.
Surviving is her husband: James “Jimmy” Jones of the home, with whom she would have been married 60 years on Aug. 18th, sons; Chuck Jones (Cindy) of Reidsville and Todd Jones (Jama) of Reidsville, nephew; Chip Henderson (Cindy) of Oxford, niece; Faithe H. Giaquinto (Mike) of Franklin, grandchildren; Kasie Jones , Will Jones, and Ross Jones.

The family will see friends from 6:00 till 8:00PM Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Citty Funeral Home and at other times they will be at the residence. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Rockingham Co. for all they did during Wilma’s illness and would like to thank Dr. Scott Luking, Dr. Bill Kallam, Dr. Najeeb Rehman and her special caregiver Estelle Harrison.
