Lorene Joyce Gregory, 94, of Reidsville, NC died August 8th, 2013 at Rex Hospital. She was born on February 15, 1919 in Spencer, VA. The daughter of the late Robert and Nancy Adams Joyce, she was the sixth of seven children. She was raised in Reidsville, NC. It was there she met and married her beloved, Joseph Francis Gregory, on Dec. 20, 1941. The love and partnership they shared was an inspiration to many.

Mrs. Gregory was the matriarch of her family and a devoted servant of Christ, active at First United Methodist Church of Reidsville, where she taught Sunday School and led Bible Study for many years. She managed the office for her husbandís business, The Fix-It Shop, later Gregoryís Inc., in Reidsville.

In her retirement, she was an avid gardener and homemaker who enjoyed her role of mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had resided at Brighton Gardens in Raleigh for the last seven years, where she was much loved and well cared for by the staff and care givers. The family would also like to thank the nurses and staff of the 6th Floor East at Rex Hospital for their tenderness and care.

Mrs. Gregory was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and her son, Philip Wayne Gregory.

Mrs. Gregory is survived by her daughter Barbara G. Teeter of Raleigh and daughter-in-law Tonda S. Gregory of Fort Collins, Colorado.

She is survived by five grandchildren: Greg Weaver and his wife Susan of Raleigh; Susan Weaver of Raleigh; Angela Gregory of Mooresville; Katherine Gregory of Fort Collins, Colorado and Jennifer G. De Luca and her husband Keith of Fort Collins, Colorado. Her five great-grandchildren: Carlyle Weaver, Davis Weaver, Grant DeLuca, Marcus DeLuca and Cora Josephine Gregory.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Sunday August 11, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Reidsville. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church at 2:00 PM, an hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1520 South Scales Street, Reidsville, NC 27320 or to the Methodist Home for Children, 1041 Washington Street, Raleigh, NC 27605.
